Digest: upcoming changes and player feedback

Following community feedback on recent updates, we’ve prepared this brief digest to outline upcoming changes being made in response, as well as to highlight how we integrate your feedback into the development process — and how you can play your part in shaping Forge of Empires.

GBG Trials

With the update to version 1.317 taking place on September 8th (EN) and September 10th (all servers), we will be lifting purchase caps on Diamonds, Forge Points, and Goods in the Seasonal GBG Store, as well as adding new slots for the Championship Store. The change will be applied immediately; no need to wait for the new season to start.

Forge Points and Goods in the Seasonal Store will have price scaling similar to the Diamonds’. After you reach the end of it, you will be able to continue purchasing the same reward slot indefinitely.

For Diamonds, the slot size will remain 50, and for Forge Points and Goods, it’s set to 1,000. While our data supports this choice, we understand the potential implications and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

The maximum cost after 20 purchases will be as follows: 50 Diamonds for 13,600 Silver Coins, 1,000 Forge Points/Goods for 3,400 Silver Coins.

The Championship Store will receive four unlimited slots with Forge Points and current Age Goods for those who are looking for more options to use up Gold and Platinum Coins.

We hope this change addresses many of your concerns about Trials and allows you to make the best out of the new system!

Quantum Incursions: Middle Ages

The upcoming Championship (that is already running on Beta) has also received a feedback-motivated change. Following your response, we’ve reverted the increase in Quantum Actions needed to move between nodes. While more changes are possible before the Championship hits Live servers, we hope this decision will help you explore and enjoy the QI’s evolution into the Middle Ages and additions to Settlement management that come with it. Play the new Championship starting October 2nd; the announcement follows soon.

Player feedback

Over the past few weeks, you’ve been vocally expressing your discontent about recent updates, GBG Trials in particular. We respect and understand those emotions, which is why we wanted to offer insight into the influence they have on our decisions.

On par with other factors that influence game development, the variety of player requests and desires is one of our biggest challenges.

Forge welcomes hundreds of thousands of players every day, all with different playstyles, experience, and, most importantly, presence on community platforms. In fact, only a small fraction of our players are active community contributors. However, despite the apparent silence of the majority, they make their voices heard in a different way. More often than not, our data on feature participation and engagement suggests a much higher level of acceptance than what we see in the community, offering solid grounds to retain a change that would seem entirely negative if it were judged solely based on feedback.

Despite our best wishes, we may not always be able to implement requests circulating in the visible community, as often they are heavily challenged by other factors that are invisible to players. We encourage you to be aware of this influence and do your part in creating a healthy and constructive environment for all players.

We understand discussions can get heated, but we kindly ask you to keep them respectful. Forge’s community is built by adults who share a passion for the game, and we expect conversations to reflect that maturity. Insults and rudeness do not add weight to your feedback, thoughtful arguments do. We inherently value ALL our players’ opinions and will continue to work passionately to include them to the best of our ability. We hope many of you can find joy in making Forge of Empires and its community a better place and helping us ensure the game remains available to those who wish to support its evolution for years to come.
