How do the pity and guarantee mechanics work?

Pity and Guarantee are two separate systems that work independently.

Pity Mechanic

The pity mechanic applies to receiving a 5-star hero or relic after an unlucky streak.

When you reach the pity threshold without receiving a 5-star hero or relic (for example, 19/20), your next summon from that Time Portal or Excavation Site is guaranteed to give you one. However, if you receive a 5-star reward before reaching this threshold, the pity counter resets.

Please note that each Time Portal and Excavation Site has its own separate pity bar. You can review it in the top-right corner of the relevant screen.


Guarantee Mechanic

The guarantee system applies when you receive a non-promoted hero or relic. If you receive a non-promoted reward, your next reward of the same rarity from that guarantee group is guaranteed to be the promoted one.

Arcane Time Portal

If you receive a non-seasonal 5-star hero, your next 5-star hero from the Arcane Time Portal is guaranteed to be a seasonal 5-star hero. 

This guarantee carries over between seasons. For example, if you receive a non-seasonal 5-star hero in Season 23 and the season ends, the guarantee will still apply in Season 24. The same guarantee also applies to 4-star seasonal heroes.

Allied Culture Time Portals

If you receive a non-promoted 5-star hero, your next 5-star hero from that specific Allied Culture Time Portal is guaranteed to be a hero from that Allied Culture. Each Allied Culture has its own separate guarantee (Vikings, Egypt, China, Maya, and Arabia).

This guarantee is remembered when the Allied Culture returns. For example, if you receive a non-promoted 5-star hero from the Egyptian Time Portal, the guarantee will still apply the next time Egypt returns. 

For 4-star heroes, the guarantee is triggered after 2 consecutive non-promoted 4-star hero rewards from the same Allied Culture Time Portal.

x10 Hero Promotions

For x10 Hero Promotions, each promotion is treated as a separate event. This means the guarantee only applies during that specific promotion.

Please note that x10 Hero Promotions do not change your base chance of receiving a 5-star hero. They only affect which 5-star hero you receive once you successfully summon one.

For example, if Achilles is promoted and you receive a different 5-star hero during his promotion, your next 5-star hero during the same Achilles promotion is guaranteed to be Achilles. However, if the promotion ends before you receive Achilles, the guarantee will not carry over to a future Achilles promotion.

Additional Notes

Pity does not affect the guarantee system. It does not matter whether you receive a reward through luck or by reaching the pity threshold.

You can review the current drop rates from the specific Time Portal or Excavation Site screen, as they may differ. Tap thebutton above the pity bar to open the drop rate display.


If you are guaranteed to receive a specific 5-star or 4-star reward, only that reward will be listed in the relevant drop rate section. 

This display shows the drop rates for your next successful summon, not your previous summon. For example, if your next successful 5-star summon from the Arcane Time Portal is guaranteed to be the seasonal hero, only that seasonal hero will be listed in the 5-star drop rate section.


Please note that Hero Awakening Essences and Chrono Crystals linked to 5-star heroes also count as 5-star heroes.
