Chapter XX - Settlement Buildings
Settlement Overview
With this chapter comes a new set of challenges and opportunities. You’ll unlock the next tier of Ascended Goods, allowing your Merchant to trade up to nine different goods after upgrading your Trader to level 9.
City planning becomes more strategic than ever: some settlement buildings must be placed directly next to your Manufactories, while others need to be connected to the portal to function. As you progress, you’ll need to make careful decisions about space management, production priorities, and resource allocation to advance through the technology tree efficiently.
Settlement Buildings
The settlement introduces several new buildings, each playing a unique role in producing resources and unlocking technologies. While many interact closely, the key structure at the heart of this chapter is the Harmony Grove.
Harmony Grove

The Harmony Grove serves two essential functions:
- Storage Hub – It holds all chapter-specific resources.
- Production Center – Produces Bars
and, at higher levels, Songs
. - Bars
are the only capped resource in this chapter and are required for multiple technologies. - Songs
are unlocked by upgrading the Harmony Grove and are needed for late-game research and further upgrades.
Upgrading the Harmony Grove also requires Ensemble resources: Melody
, Accompaniment
and Rhythm
obtained from Ensemble Buildings.
Tip: Ensembles are consumed when used for upgrades, so you’ll need to construct additional ones to continue progressing.
Upgrading the Harmony Grove provides:
- Access to Songs production
- Increased storage for Bars
- Additional production slots
- A boost to overall settlement productivity
Harmony Grove can be upgraded up to level 4, and with every upgrade the building's size change.
Instrument Makers
Three dedicated manufactories produce the instrument resources required to craft Songs within the Harmony Grove, and they cannot be upgraded:
Violin Maker → Produces Plucked Violins 

Flute Maker → Produces Horn Flutes

Drum Maker → Produces Barrel Drums

These resources are essential for both Song production and for constructing the Ensemble Buildings used to upgrade the Harmony Grove.
They must be connected to specific types of Manufactories:
Violin Maker → Refined Manufactories
(Crystal, Scrolls, Silk) Flute Maker → Precious Manufactories
(Elixir, Magic Dust, Gems) Drum Maker → Basic Manufactories
(Marble, Steel, Planks) 4
Each offers four production cycles: 3h, 9h, 1d, 2d, with varying resource costs.
There is no storage cap on these instrument resources, allowing continuous production.
Ensemble Buildings
Ensemble Buildings serve two purposes:
- They unlock resources required to upgrade the Harmony Grove.
- They provide a production boost for Bars within the Harmony Grove.
There are three types of Ensembles and cannot be upgraded:
Violin Ensemble → Produces Melody

Flute Ensemble → Produces Accompaniment

Drum Ensemble → Produces Rhythm

Important:
Ensembles are not stackable. Once you use them to upgrade the Harmony Grove, they’re consumed, and you must build additional ones to progress further.
Each constructed Ensemble also grants a cumulative production bonus for Bars, accelerating overall resource generation.
